Description
AVID PRO TOOLS HD SYNC MASTER CLOCK INTERFACE
This guide covers operation of the SYNC HD and SYNC I/O, Avid’s multipurpose synchronization peripherals for Pro Tools HD systems. SYNC peripherals support all Pro Tools sample rates, and synchronize to most major time code and clock reference standards used in audio, video, film, and multimedia production. SYNC peripherals can also be used as standalone synchronization devices.
SYNC Peripherals with Pro Tools Systems with Pro Tools HD Hardware
With a Pro Tools system running Pro Tools HD hardware, SYNC peripherals provide highly accurate lock to time code. Most SYNC peripheral settings are available directly from within Pro Tools.
SYNC Peripherals in Standalone Mode
SYNC peripherals can be used as standalone synchronization converters, time code generators, clock generators and time code character generators. Throughout this guide, the term standalone refers to systems using the SYNC HD or SYNC I/O but not using Pro Tools. When used as a standalone device (or in “Standalone mode”), a SYNC peripheral is connected to time code or clock signals, and is configured from the front panel. Optionally, while in Standalone mode, a SYNC peripheral can be controlled remotely from a Windows computer using the SYNC Setup software utility
Eliminate distortion
Maintain the highest audio fidelity and performance across Pro Tools | Ultimate and all connected devices. With SYNC HD, you have a reliable, low-jitter master clock ensuring that all audio signals are captured and played back with complete precision and accuracy, so you get pristine, distortion-free audio. And it supports all Pro Tools | Ultimate sample rates, from 44.1–192 kHz.
Clock to a variety of sources
SYNC HD supports all major industry-standard clock sources and timecode formats used in audio, video, film, and multimedia production. These include Loop Sync, Video Reference, Linear Timecode, Word Clock, and more.
Set a positional reference
To maintain the highest level of sync accuracy over long periods of time, SYNC HD also supports positional reference sources. These include Linear Timecode (LTC), Vertical Interval Timecode (VITC), Serial Timecode, and Bi-phase/Tach.
Get locked in
When used with Pro Tools | HD systems, SYNC HD provides highly accurate lock to timecode, making it essential for commercial music and post production. If you’re using Satelite Link to control multiple Pro Tools | HD systems, you’ll need one or more interfaces. You can remotely control the interface from your Pro Tools | HD system, or use SYNC HD standalone. It also provides standard pull-up and pull-down rates, making it easier to work with film and video projects.
